Velvet Sixpence has been a long time coming. 5 years ago, I was persuaded to start a baking blog, which I called Vittoria Segreta after typing ‘Victoria’s Secrets’ into Google translate and seeing which language it sounded best in. So much has changed since then. So so much.

Since then, my world has taken an inescapably woolly turn. I still bake, but much more rarely, and nowadays my life is all about spinning, knitting, weaving and dyeing with a little bit of sewing and baking thrown in. It’s amazing what a few years can do.
